It’s Fast & Easy!
Now that you have chosen Media City Community Credit Union, we want to make your transition smooth and easy. Our Switch Guide contains all you need to close your accounts elsewhere, and establish direct deposit with us, as well as any automatic transactions. You can make the switch in 3 easy steps:
- Open a MCCCU Savings Account.
Please complete and sign our Membership Form and return to us with a check for at least $25 on the account* or stop by the credit union and we’ll assist you in person. Once your Membership has been established, you are eligible to open (or apply for) additional services such deposit accounts, loans, etc.
*Begin earning dividends on balances of $100 or more
- Close Your Other Account(s).
Print and complete the Close Account Form. Be sure to leave your old accounts active long enough to allow outstanding checks and automatic withdrawals to clear, and leave enough money in place to cover these transactions (this may take several weeks). Once you’re sure that your old accounts are inactive, you can ask your previous financial institution to send you the balance from that account. (Remember to destroy your old checks, ATM/Debit cards and deposit slips!).
- Transition Your Automatic Transactions.
Use the Direct Deposit Authorization form to set up deposit of paychecks, retirement and pension checks, or Social Security checks directly to your MCCCU Account. To set up automatic payments from your MCCCU account you will need to provide merchants with your new MCCCU account number and our routing/transit number. Use the Change Automatic Withdrawal form to notify anyone who makes automatic withdrawals from your account, such as mortgage companies, insurance providers, utility, phone or cable companies. Some merchants may allow you to update your automatic withdrawals online through the merchant’s website, but some merchants require a phone call or written notice. Don’t forget to sign and date the form before you mail it to the merchant.
To find the account numbers for your old account, look at the bottom of your checks for a series of numbers:
Bank routing numbers are the first nine digits of the series, beginning with a number between 01 and 12 or 21 and 32.
Once you’ve completed all the necessary transition forms, simply mail them to us at this address:
